Zeta Chi initiated Kendall Ackerman, Brandon Armstrong, Robert Clark, Paul Greer, Ben Kroske, Courtney Robinson, Courtney Stafford, Erinn Whiteside and Quinton Wilson into the Brotherhood on March 19, 2010. ZX was joined by numerous alumni who participated in Membership Education events throughout the semester. Congratulations to our new brothers!

Director of Bands Annouces Retirement





USC Director of Bands, James K. Copenhaver has annouced his retirement from the University of South Carolina in Spring 2010. Mr. Copenhaver has been on the faculty of the School of Music since 1976. Mr. Copenhaver is a recipient of the Kappa Kappa Psi Distinguished Service to Music Medal in Instrumental Music Education and the Bohumil Makovsky Memorial Award for outstanding college band conductors. He is also an elected member of the American Bandmasters Association and a member of the South Carolina Band Directors Association Hall of Fame and the Phi Beta Mu - Theta Chapter Hall of Fame.

New Band Hall Dedication Ceremony


April 26, 2009





Dr. Tayloe Harding, Dean of the School of Music, and James K. Copenhaver, Director of Bands, hosted a dedication ceremony on Sunday, April 26, 2009 to officially open the new marching band and dance facility, which is located at 324 Sumter Street.

Zeta Chi hosts Chris Haughee and Dr. Malinda Matney



for Leadership Weekend 2009





The brothers attended workshops presented by Chris Haughee, former SED Governor, and Dr. Malinda Matney, National President on April 25, 2009. These included Chris Haughee's "Lessons from the Rituals" and Malinda's workshop on strategic planning and goal setting for the chapter.





The brothers also catered dinner from Harper's in honor of our guests and our graduating brothers for Spring 2009.

Zeta Chi and Epsilon Alpha (TBS) Co-host an Outstanding SED Convention

April 3-4, 2009





On April 3 – 4, 2009, the joint chapters of Zeta Chi and Epsilon Alpha (TBS) co-hosted the Southeast District Convention. Events were held at the USC School of Music as well as the Carolina Coliseum.



Registration was held on Friday, April 3, and was followed by a concert of the USC University Band and Concert Band directed by co-sponsor Dr. George Brozak and Associate Director of Bands Dr. Rebecca Phillips, respectively.

Following the concert, Zeta Chi made Dr. Rod Chestnutt (Gamma Nu, Past National President) and Derrick Mills (Eta, National VP for Colonization and Membership) honorary members of the chapter.
